Alright oppo, you may have seen my previous posts about my accident woes, rebuilding the GTO and such. Now the time has come for me to pay the piper.

$4300 a year insurance premium. Fuuuuuck you.

So, they want me gone. I’m gone. I’ve shopped around and the best I’ve found are Geico (meh ??) and Allstate (less meh?) for around $200-$220 a month.

My only other option is sell the car and buy something else that is less expensive or just buy a shitbucket that isn’t worth anything and do stupid stuff to it to make it fast. That’s alot of work just for insurance though.

I don’t think I want to sell the car but considering that the “normal” rates I’m getting are between $250-$350 a month...

Fwiw, in my family’s experience, you are absolutely positivity not in good hands with Allstate.

You look into Progressive yet?

Insurance is one of those weird things that you can’t really compare with other people - Everything from your location to your age to your history to the type of vehicle you’re looking at can change the rate.

Assuming by GTO you mean one of the 2000s versions, and you’ve had an accident, and you’re probably not that old. Therefore, you are boned. Try raising deductibles or lowering some of the coverages.

Boned is the term. I’m leary of using Geico but they are the cheapest so far.

We’ve considered switching to Geico as well since they are the cheapest

Honestly from my couple friends that have them, they are extremely satisfied. They seem to handle claims better than Allstate has for us...

I’ve heard better things about Gieco than Allstate. Actually I’ve heard nothing but bad things about Allstate, including from a guy who worked in their corporate offices for 30 years.

Well, cool. Thanks. I’m trying USAA to see what they can do for me. But it may have to be Geico.
